BIO
Mindy Smith is an embroidery artist based in North Mankato. Smith’s 15 years of experience in all areas of needlework allows her to introduce new elements to her embroidery art and extend the range of her talent. She enjoys creating intricate and realistic designs with subjects ranging from flowers to organs.
ARTIST STATEMENT
It is important to me to use historical and traditional methods of embroidery. I spent several years researching and learning historical embroidery methods, such as stumpwork and cutwork. What started as a challenge and exploration of history became a fascination with the movement, emotions, and textures just a little thread can create.
