BIO

Whitney Dirks (she/her) is a disabled, queer artist who has been working in fiber and textiles since 2019. She has shown in local, group shows since 2022, and her first solo exhibition will take place at the Arts Center of Saint Peter in late 2025. ARTIST STATEMENT

Whitney Dirks is a self-taught magpie who loves rooting through other people’s trash at thrift stores, discovering and stockpiling treasures for later use. She embraces the ethical nature of upcycled materials, which provide both an environmentally conscious alternative to consigning unwanted clothing to landfills and a socially conscious alternative to sweatshop labor.
